Purses Vs. Diaper Bag - The Great Debate

So, since I am overly excited about having this baby and buying everything that one has to have for a baby, I have been researching a lot. One of the things that I have been frantically searching Pinterest researching is the topic of diaper bags. During my research I have come to the conclusion that if I want to be a fashionable Mom with a fashionable diaper bag, it is good to have a lot of money/you can't get a good cute & fashionable diaper bag for under $50.

Since I am brilliant I was thinking man I bet I could use an adorable purse for a diaper bag if it had enough pockets. So, I began frantically searching Pinterest researching purses big enough to use as a diaper bag. Turns out I'm not the only brilliant one.

Here are the actual diaper bags I was eyeing:

CoCaLo Couture Chloe Tile Jacquard Hobo Diaper Bag :$127.98

Signature Sateen Outline C Baby Bag :$358.00

Skip Hop Studio Diaper Bag - Charcoal Dot :$55.99

Beautiful right? Yeah, my husband would never let me buy them (maybe the skip hop one.)

Now here are the purses I found that would definitely be a suitable replacement:

Women's Logan Shopper (Payless) :$24.99

Worthington® 'Emma' Tote (JCPenney) :$35.00

Oversized Canvas Shopper (WareHouse):$50.00

BOWRON (ALDO) :$24.49

See? Much cheaper!

But I have a dilemma. Gabe will have to carry this "diaper bag" at one point.
Has anyone who is a Mom ever bought a purse and used it as a diaper bag? Did your husband complain? I really want to know your opinion. Also, does anyone have any other cute purses they have found that could be used as a diaper bag?

  1. Haha, 1st time around we used an actual diaper bag & it worked great. Eventually I just started using my purse,I thought it made things easier. This time around, I'm looking for a big, cute purse w/lots of pockets :) That way, I can use it long past the "diaper bag stage". Husband never complained about having to carry it :)
